Background
Thomas Alva Edison is one of the people who have
changed the world. He is also known as Thomas Edison. He was an inventor and
businessman. He created the great products such as electric light bulb and
phonograph. Furthermore, Thomas Edison was born on 11 February 1847 in Milan,
Ohio. He was the youngest of the seven children to Samuel and Nancy Edison. His
Father was an exiled political activist and his mother was a teacher. Thomas
Edison had hearing difficulties in both ears due to scarlet fever since his
early age. He was judged ‘difficult’ by his teacher so his mother taught him at
home (A&E Television Networks, 2016).

What he doing before invent
light bulb?
By the early
1870s, Thomas Edison had acquired a reputation as a first-rate inventor. In
late 1875, Edison faced the difficulties of financial but with his father help,
his able to expanding operations to Menlo Park, New Jersey, and built an
independent industrial research facility incorporating machine shops and
laboratories. In 1877, Edison developed the carbon transmitter, a device that
improved the audibility of the telephone. In the same year, his create the
method for recording sound the phonograph. Although the products took years
before it could be produced and sold in markets. But, the invention made an
immediate splash and brought him worldwide fame.
Why he want to invent light
bulb?
Although Thomas Edison
isn’t the first person who invent light bulb nor electric light bulb and yet,
he’s the one who reinvented the light bulb was proved practical, affordable, and
for home illumination (Latson, 2014). “We will make electricity so cheap
that only the rich will burn candles.” We’ve extracted this sentence from the
speech given by Thomas Edison, on 31st December, 1879 at Menlo Park about first public demonstration of his incandescent
light bulb. He was intended to make light bulb last longer than the previous
edition of light bulb and financially affordable by every household in New York
City.

What achievement he get after invent light bulb?
Thomas Edison was felicitated with
numerous medals and awards for his magnanimous contribution to mankind. Some of
them were being distinguished with the ‘Officer of the Legion of Honour’ by
France, Distinguished Service Medal by US Navy and Congressional Gold Medal by
the US. He was inducted into New Jersey Hall of Fame and Entrepreneur Walk of
Fame. He was made the honorable member of several important institutions,
including the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Louisiana Purchase Exposition
World’s fair and the National Academy of Sciences. He also receives various
medals, including John Scott Medal, Edward Longstreth Medal, John Fritz Medal
and Edison Medal. His birthday is marked as National Inventor’s Day.
Did the world respect him?
The world did respect one of the
great inventors and who had change the world, Thomas Edison. There also have
several places like bridges, town, institution, hotels, even in space are used
the name of Thomas Edison to memorial and appreciates his great inventors. There
also have a museum which memorial Thomas Edison in somewhere of the United
States. Thomas Edison is the great inventors who actually 'light up' the life of whole
world.
